Vicki Stephens was born in Fort Worth, Texas and received her early education in Washington state and Michigan state. Moving to Louisiana after high school graduation she worked in the manufacturing industry for many years. During these years her childhood interest in art found expression through drawing and painting.
In 1987, after completing studies in Graphic Arts at the Shreveport-Bossier Technical Institute, she worked in the commercial printing industry for 12 years. During this time she exhibited paintings in numerous shows. In 1999 she continued her education by attending San Antonio College to study art. After transferring to the University of Texas in San Antonio she chose to concentrate on printmaking.
In 2007 she joined the faculty at the Majestic Ranch Arts Foundation teaching classes/workshops in printmaking for the Majestic School. In 2008 she earned a Masters degree and joined the faculty part time.
In 2010 she began working as an Adjunct at Sanford Brown College - San Antonio (formally IADT) teaching basic fundamentals 2D Design, Design process, Color theroy, Elements of Advertising, Photo Imaging, Digital Illustration, Web design Fundamentals, Art History and Culture I and II, and History and Theory of Design.
In 2016 she joined the faculty at the Art Institute in San Antonio and is currently teaching Digital Illustration, Image manipulation, Digital Color Fundamentals,
Layout and Design (InDesign), College Bound program.

As a printmaker Vicki’s prints have won several awards. In her current work she reflects an interest in form, color, texture and space, both personal and private. Drawing from her experience in manufacturing she also exhibits an interest in systems and the processes of making art, both social and political.
